SILK SKIRT WITH PRINTED FLOWERS 7th-9th cen. ex from tomb 230 Astana, Turfan. The skirt is made from six pieces of p atterned brocade sewn together, the skirt has a trumpt shape. The plain weave is very loose. On the orange background is a design of deep yellow flowers. The reduced dye technique used to pring the flowers on the skirt gives the flowesr their light and dark shading. On each side of the skirt there are small flowers that are prominent.
