Votive Shield of Tutankhamun.
This gilded shield was one of eight shields discovered in one of the tombs of tutankhamun . It is made of gilded wood and depicts the powerful king brandishing his sword while holding two lions , symbols for enemies , by the tail and behind him stands the vulture goddess Nekhbet of Upper Egypt protecting him . The shield encloses three lines of hieroglyphic inscriptions indicating that compare between the power of the pharaoh and that of god Montu . The upper part of this arched shield is adorned with the winged solar disk that shows the protection of the sun god for him . He is portrayed with a swollen belly and wearing a short shendit that highlight the influence of Amarna art on the artists of that period .
