With the emergence of generative artificial intelligence(AI), cloud networks are accelerating their demand for 400G and higher-speed optical modules. AI is driving the evolution of optical transceivers toward higher-speed technologies such as 400G/800G/1.6T. UnitekFiber is professional supplier who provides a comprehensive range of 400G optical transceiver. We produce different type of 400G QSFP-DD transceiver module, such as DR4/ER8/FR4/LR8.
What is the 400G QSFP-DD Optical Transceiver?
400G QSFP-DD optical transceiver is a high-speed optical transceiver module designed to facilitate ultra-fast data transmission in network communications. The 400G QSFP-DD optic transceiver utilizes advanced optical modulation techniques, such as Pulse Amplitude Modulation 4 (PAM4), to achieve higher data rates over optical fibers. QSFP-DD transceiver module typically employs multiple lanes or channels to transmit data simultaneously, each operating at 100Gbps or higher. Four channels can be aggregated or multiplexed to achieve the overall data rate of 400Gbps. The 400G QSFP-DD fiber optic transceiver is widely used in applications that demand high bandwidth, such as data centers, cloud computing, and telecommunications infrastructure. The deployment of 400G QSFP-DD transceiver allows for increased network capacity, improved data transfer speeds, and enhanced efficiency in handling large volumes of data. QSFP-DD optical transceiver supports the growing demands of bandwidth-intensive applications, such as high-definition video streaming, virtualization and artificial intelligence.
Different Form-Factors of 400G Optical Transceivers
QSFP-DD (Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable Double Density): QSFP-DD fiber transceiver is a compact and high-density form factor that supports 8 lanes of 50 Gbps each, resulting in a total data rate of 400 Gbps.
OSFP (Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable): OSFP network transceiver supports 8 lanes of 50 Gbps each, providing a total data rate of 400 Gbps. OSFP optical transceiver supports are slightly larger than QSFP-DD optical transceiver but offer better thermal performance.
CFP8 (C Form-factor Pluggable): CFP8 optical transceiver supports 16 lanes of 25 Gbps each, resulting in a total data rate of 400 Gbps. CFP8 optical transceiver are backward compatible with existing CFP and CFP2 interfaces, making them suitable for upgrading older network equipment to higher speeds. However, due to their larger size, CFP8 optical transceiver are not as widely adopted as QSFP-DD and OSFP optical transceiver.
