POGO Pins Insert Molding
Pogo pins insert molding also belongs to metal insert molding. The pogo pins are first put into the mold by hand. Once the mold is closed, plastic particles are melted in the barrel and then injected into the mold, with the plastic flowing around the pogo pins. After the plastic has cooled and solidified, the finished product is removed from the mold, with the pogo pins securely attached to the plastic.
The pogo pins are added to injection molded parts, which reduces the secondary assembly operation after forming, resulting in a complete pogo pin connector system.
How Does POGO Pins Insert Molding Work?
1
Place the pogo pins into a mold by manual.
2
Inject the molten plastic into the mold cavity.
3
After cooling and solidifying, the plastic is combined with the pogo pins.
Explain Advantages of POGO Pins Insert Molding
Reducing size and weight
Insert molding makes it possible to build smaller and lighter parts since it eliminates the need for secondary assembly and combines the physical strength of plastic and pogo pins.
Improve reliability
Insert molded parts can prevent pogo pins from becoming loose, misalignment, and improper termination, among other problems, because they are firmly attached with plastic. In addition, Plastic have better resistance to shock and vibration.
Have greater accuracy
Insert molding, as compared to other technologies, can manufacture parts with superior dimensional accuracy. The pogo pins are precisely put into the mold cavity before the molding process begins to ensure that they are in the exact location.
Note When Designing the Pogo Pins Insert Molding
1. The pogo pin insert molding is required to withstand high pressure and high temperature during the injection molding process without affecting its current.
2. Since insert molding still relies on plastic to maintain the position of the pogo pins, it is important to design the mold to precisely fix the pogo pin.
3. When the part is still inside the closed mold, the shrinkage of plastic begins immediately after the injection molding is completed. Moreover, when the mold is closed, the pogo pins will limit plastic shrinkage.
Therefore, the size and shape of the pogo pins, the shrinkage rate of the plastic, and the engineer's experience must all be taken into account.
